Request a personal du'a for anxiety relief at Al-Aqsa. How the request works, how to word it kindly, and what the du'a does and does not promise.
Some worry has a clear cause: a result due on Thursday, a hospital letter. Some has none, and arrives at 3 a.m. with a tight chest and a mind that will not stop. Either way, many people reach the same point where they say, quietly, "I would like someone to ask Allah for me."
That is a legitimate thing to ask. If you want the du'a to be made at Al-Aqsa Mosque, by name, this page shows how to request it. If you want the words to say yourself, they are in the guide Du'a for Anxiety Relief, which has the texts, their numbers and their gradings. Use both: the guide for what you can say, this page for what can be said on your behalf.
Is this request for you?
It fits if you are:
carrying worry that has lasted weeks and feels heavier than your own du'a can lift;
supporting someone close who is anxious, and want to do something concrete for them;
facing a specific pressure such as a move, a court date, a family rift, and wanting your name raised in a blessed place.
It is not a clinical service. If worry is affecting sleep, work or eating for more than a couple of weeks, speak to a doctor or counsellor as well. The Prophet ﷺ told his companions to seek treatment (Abu Dawud 3855, sahih per al-Albani), and that applies to the heart's illnesses as well as the body's.

How to word an intention for anxiety
The best intention names the feeling and the hope, in kind language. Compare:
Fix my anxiety.
Peace of heart and steadiness for Layla, who has been very anxious since her father's illness.
The second is easier to hold in mind. It is also gentler on the person. A few more examples:
For my brother Yusuf: calm before his surgery next week, and a mind that can rest at night.
For myself: relief from constant worry, and the strength to take one day at a time.
For a friend who is going through a divorce: patience, and a heart that is not overwhelmed.
Avoid labels you would not say to the person's face. Write "worry" or "heaviness" rather than a diagnosis, unless they are comfortable with it.
What arrives, and the limits
You get a video of the du'a made by name at Al-Aqsa. Nothing else is claimed. We do not promise that worry will lift by a certain date, and answering belongs to Allah alone.
Three texts that fit
The guide has many more. These three are the ones closest to the request.
Seeking refuge from worry and grief, taught by the Prophet ﷺ (Bukhari 6369):
«اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ»
The Quran on the heart's rest: «أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ» (13:28).
A du'a for someone else, in their absence. The Prophet ﷺ said that a Muslim's du'a for his brother in his absence is answered, and that an angel says "Amin, and the same for you" (Sahih Muslim 2733). This is why a person can ask for another's calm without that person knowing. The wider practice of asking a living, trusted person to make du'a is also in Sahih Muslim 2542, the story of Uways al-Qarni.
Words for the hours between
The video may take a couple of days. In that time, two short texts are worth keeping close. The du'a of Dhun-Nun (Yunus, peace be upon him), from the Quran (21:87), narrated in Tirmidhi 3505 and graded sahih by al-Albani:
«لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ»
And the reminder of Surat al-Sharh: «فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا» (94:5-6). Neither is a timetable. Both are a way of speaking to Allah while the heart is still heavy. The anxiety guide explains each with its sources.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can I request this for a friend without telling them?
Yes. A du'a for someone in their absence is established in Sahih Muslim 2733. Some people share the video afterwards, and some keep it private.
What should I write if I do not know why I feel anxious?
Write what you feel, in plain words: "constant worry and trouble sleeping." There is no need for a reason.
Is this a substitute for professional help?
No. If anxiety is affecting daily life for weeks, see a doctor or counsellor. Du'a and treatment go together.
Will the anxiety go away after the du'a?
No result is promised. Answering is with Allah alone. The du'a is made sincerely, by name, and you receive a video of it.
What can I say myself while I wait?
The guide [Du'a for Anxiety Relief](/blog/dua-for-anxiety-relief) lists the du'a for worry and grief and others, each with its source.
Can I request one for someone who has passed away?
Yes. The names form has a "for the deceased" option.
